FAQ – Accommodation & Booking at Het Rustpunt
How can I book a stay at Het Rustpunt?
You can easily book a stay at Het Rustpunt in Ghent via our website or by contacting us directly by email or phone. We’d be happy to assist you personally with your booking for a peaceful overnight stay or retreat in Belgium.
What are the arrival and departure times?
Our reception is open from 08:00. You can check in from that time, but rooms are available from 15:00. Check-out is at 10:00. You can use our lockers to store your luggage safely before check-in or after check-out. The reception closes at 6.00 pm on weekdays. On Saturdays, the reception closes at 4.00 pm, and on Sundays and public holidays, the reception closes at 12.00 pm.
I’m arriving outside reception opening hours. Is that a problem?
No, that’s not a problem. If you arrive outside opening hours, you can check in independently using an access code. Please let us know your arrival time in advance and we’ll provide you with all the necessary instructions for self-check-in.
Can I book a stay at the last minute?
Yes, last-minute bookings are possible subject to availability. Please feel free to contact us to check current availability.
How long can I stay at Het Rustpunt?
You can stay at Het Rustpunt for either a short or a long period. Whether you’re looking to relax for a weekend or planning a longer retreat, we’d be happy to discuss the options with you.
Can I extend my stay?
Yes, depending on availability, you can extend your stay. Both late check-out and extra nights are possible, subject to availability.
Can I choose which room I stay in?
Yes, subject to availability, you can specify your preferences for your room, such as a garden view, a room on the church side, or a room without stairs.
What types of accommodation does Het Rustpunt offer?
Het Rustpunt offers various unique accommodation options in Ghent:
- Monastery Rooms: comfortable single, twin and triple rooms in the historic Carmelite monastery.
- De Kluis: an authentic 17th-century retreat with a private garden for up to 3 people.
- Het Achterhuis: a modern retreat with a sauna, kitchen, office space and room for 3 to 5 people.
- Thérèse guesthouse: ideal for longer stays of at least 14 nights. Het Rustpunt also has various function rooms, suitable for seminars, meetings, workshops, parties or gatherings.
Can I check out later?
Yes, late check-out until 12:00 is possible for a surcharge of €25. This must be requested in advance.
Are pets allowed?
No, although we love animals, pets are not allowed at Het Rustpunt.
What facilities are available in the rooms?
Our rooms feature, amongst other things: comfortable bed(s) modern en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower (no bath), hairdryer, shampoo and soap desk and cupboard space free Wi-Fi heating and air conditioning
In keeping with the spirit of the monastery, there are no televisions or radios in the rooms. Free coffee, tea and water are available in the communal area. You can also make use of a communal fridge.
Are cots available?
Yes, we can provide a cot in your room on request.
Can I request a room with a view of the garden?
Yes, subject to availability, you can request a room with a view of the monastery garden.
What can I expect from the breakfast buffet?
Our breakfast buffet consists of a wide selection of, among other things, fresh bread rolls and pastries, eggs and hot bacon, cheeses and cold meats, yoghurt, fruit and granola, coffee, tea, fruit juices and (soya) milk products.
Gluten-free and vegan options are provided as standard.
The breakfast buffet runs from 08:00 to 10:00.
Can I request an earlier breakfast?
Yes, if you need to leave early, we can provide an earlier breakfast on request.
Are all rooms accessible by lift?
Most rooms are accessible by lift. Please let us know in advance if you require a room that is definitely accessible without stairs.
Is Het Rustpunt wheelchair accessible?
Het Rustpunt is only partially wheelchair accessible. As Het Rustpunt is located in a historic building, it is not possible to access every area by wheelchair.

How do I get to Het Rustpunt by car?
Het Rustpunt is easily accessible by car and has parking facilities nearby. Please be aware of the Low Emission Zone (LEZ), the traffic management plan (the ‘knips’) and the car-free zones in Ghent. Use an up-to-date version of your satnav.
Is Het Rustpunt accessible via the motorway?
Yes, our location in the centre of Ghent is easily accessible via the E17 and E40.
What address should I use for my sat nav?

Is Het Rustpunt accessible by public transport?
Yes, Het Rustpunt is easily accessible by tram and bus from Gent-Sint-Pieters station and Dampoort station.
How far is the nearest station?
Gent-Sint-Pieters station is about a 15-minute tram ride away.
Can I get there on foot or by bike?
Yes, Het Rustpunt is located in the historic centre of Ghent and is easily accessible on foot or by bike.
FAQ – Parking at Het Rustpunt
Is there parking at Het Rustpunt?
Yes, guests can park in the car park in front of the Carmelite Church at Burgstraat 46, 9000 Ghent, at a discounted rate of €12 per day/night.
Is the car park in front of the church full?
No problem. You can park in the monastery garden – Prinsenhof 39, 9000 Ghent (upon arrival during reception opening hours). You can park in the ‘Ramen’ or ‘Sint-Michielsparking’ underground car parks.
Do I need to book a parking space?
No, you cannot reserve a parking space in advance. The car park at the Karmelietenkerk at Burgstraat 46 has plenty of spaces.
If this car park is full, you can park in the monastery garden – Prinsenhof 39 (if arriving during reception opening hours) – or in the ‘Ramen’ or ‘Sint-Michielsparking’ underground car parks.
Are there charging points for electric cars?
Yes, charging points are available in the car park in the garden via Prinsenhof 39, 9000 Ghent
Is there a bicycle parking facility?
Yes, we have a secure, covered bicycle parking facility. What if the car park is full? If the car park is full, we will be happy to direct you to nearby parking options.

What should I bring with me?
Bring your personal belongings and anything that helps you relax. Essentials are available at reception.
Are bed linen and towels included?
Yes, bed linen and towels are included. You can request extra bed linen and towels at reception for €15 for a single room or €25 for a double room.
Can I find original monastery products at Het Rustpunt?
Yes, you can buy original monastery products at Het Rustpunt.
You’ll find a limited selection at reception and a varied range in the Carmelitana bookshop. As well as a wide selection of books and magazines, Carmelitana also offers a wide choice of handcrafted products, greeting cards and art supplies. The Carmelitana bookshop is located next to Het Rustpunt, at Burgstraat 92 in Ghent.
Is Wi-Fi available?
Yes, free Wi-Fi is available throughout the building.
Are meals included?
Breakfast is included with a standard overnight stay.
I’ve lost something, what should I do?
Please contact us and we’ll be happy to help you find and retrieve your lost item(s). We usually keep lost property for around two months.
